For the second year, we’re thrilled to showcase the exceptional work of Mike Mamo and his team at Telila Coffee Washing Station (CWS), located in the Kecho Anderacha Kebele of Jimma, Ethiopia. Established in 2019 with a focus on quality control and experimentation, Telila CWS has quickly become renowned for its meticulous processing methods and commitment to excellence. Alongside producing impeccably clean washed coffees, the team also crafts fermented honey and natural lots, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in Ethiopian coffee production. What sets Telila apart is its innovative approach to lot separation. While most washing stations process coffee based solely on delivery location and method, Telila goes one step further, sorting lots by the specific kebele where the cherries were grown. This attention to detail ensures a higher level of traceability and allows us to showcase the unique terroir of each lot. The station primarily processes the Gibirinna 74110 and Serto 74112 varieties, both selected by the Jimma Agricultural Research Center (JARC) for their disease resistance and outstanding flavour characteristics. We have purchased a washed coffee from Telila, a beautifully clean and vibrant coffee that reflects the heritage of Ethiopian coffee farming while embracing modern innovation. You’ll find notes of crisp Nashi pear, refreshing peach iced tea, and rich caramel fudge. These flavours come together to create a balanced and nuanced cup that we can’t wait for you to experience. We’re immensely grateful to our friends at Osito Coffee for connecting us with Mike and the team at Telila, and importing this coffee again this year.
Did you know 20c from every kilogram of coffee roasted and every cup sold goes to The Cup That Counts.
