A descendant from the indigenous Mazatec people from the mountain ranges of Oaxaca, Hermenegildo Marin inherited the family farm from his parents when they passed away. Growing up learning about coffee from them, Hermenegildo has continued to farm and honor the traditions, while embracing the modern desire for quality and a human connection to our coffee. His sons work alongside him, helping with pruning, planting, renovations and shade management. Post harvest Hermenegildo and his wife Aurelia Martinez handle the processing and drying together. Hermenegildo remembers his parents' desire to cultivate the land and use it to make a living for themselves and their children. This washed lot has flavour notes of caramelised popcorn, sweet praline and raisins. This is a relatively new producer to partner with Caravela, and are excited to share this coffee with you from a brand new region.
Did you know 20c from every kilogram of coffee roasted and every cup sold goes to The Cup That Counts.
